SIMS (Southern Institue Of Medical Sciences) is a Group of institution in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. The SIMS College of Life Sciences (SLSC) is a part of SIMS offers Graduate and Undergraduate education courses. It is located in the Mangaldas Nagar of Guntur City, A.P. India.
Established in 2005. The college offers eleven Degree courses and two post graduate degree courses and is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] Food Technology
Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and Dietetics is an undergraduate full-time course in Food Technology and dietetics. The course in generally of 4-years duration. It is generally taken up by Biology, Zoology students. It covers the topics in the field of Food Technology and Dietetics Science and teachers its students how to prepare a proper diet for people, food management, components of a balanced diet, eating habits, and Lifestyle management, among others.
Food Technology science major curriculum includes Basic Food Technology, Food Science, Family Food Technology, Food Technology requirement in different stages of life, Community Food Technology, Nutrient functions, sources, metabolisms and their effects on diseased processes. (Diet therapy) Food Technology in critical care process and 2 months mandatory internship. After completing this course, a candidate can go on for an M.Sc degree in nutrition and dietetics.
